Jennifer Huei-Fen Lin - WritingJennifer Huei-Fen Lin is a second-generation Taiwanese-American, people-loving feminist who believes in transformative love, empowerment and building community through the arts. She was born and raised in Thousand Oaks, California and moved to the Boston area in 2006. Raised in one of America's consistently-ranked "safest large cities," free of significant crime or poverty, she grew up intimately familiar with the more subtle practices of oppression and complacency that prevailed in this sheltered, politically-conservative and predominantly white suburb. As a youth, she tried to cope with social and political alienation by searching for ideological sanctuary in family, creativity and the arts, and the "radical" visions of critical writers and thinkers. In adulthood, she migrated between New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco in search of personal development, community, and the opportunity to make impact.
Her community involvements eventually led her to volunteer organizing for Boston Progress Arts Collective (bostonprogress.org), a community that inspired in her a deep value for truly supportive communities. It was through BPAC that Jennifer met Karen Young, The Genki Spark Founder and was recruited in 2011 as one of their first creative team members. She currently works at Boston Chinatown Neighborhood Center, but contributes to The Genki Spark creative team by occasionally word-smithing and posing challenging questions! |
Jen Cheng - DesignJen Cheng is a Taiwanese/Chinese American who currently works in the field of Student Affairs and is interested in graphic design and photography. She is passionate in helping the Asian American community, loves being a part of ASPIRE, and has so much fun helping The Genki Spark. During her free time, Jen enjoys eating desserts, taking pictures, walking around Boston, and playing video games.

Monique Nguyen - DesignIn addition to helping The Genki Spark with web design projects, Monique is the acting director and lead organizer at MataHari. Her passion is rooted in her struggles as an immigrant/refugee and former undocumented student. In addition to her role at MataHari, others in the community know her for her involvement with Boston Progress Arts Collective and the Student Immigrant Rights Movement. She is the daughter of Vietnam War refugees.
